About this CSV to Markdown converter
Markdown tables are wonderful to read and miserable to type by hand. Every column needs pipes, the separator row needs the right number of dashes, and one misaligned cell throws the whole thing off. If your data already lives in a spreadsheet, a CSV export, or a database query result, retyping it as Markdown is wasted effort.
This tool takes that CSV (or anything you can copy out of Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers) and builds a valid Markdown table for you. Paste the data, and the table appears instantly. Everything runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded, so it’s safe to paste internal data, exports with customer names, or anything you wouldn’t send to a random website.
What can I paste?
Anything delimited. Comma-separated values are the default, but real-world exports use semicolons (common in European locales), tabs (what you get when you copy straight from a spreadsheet), or pipes. Leave the delimiter on Auto-detect and the tool picks the most likely one from your first row, or set it explicitly if your data is unusual.
Quoted fields work the way you’d expect: a value wrapped in double quotes can contain commas, line breaks, and escaped quotes ("") without breaking the table. Any pipe characters inside a cell are escaped automatically so they don’t get mistaken for column borders.
Headers and alignment
Keep First row is a header checked when your data starts with column names. That row becomes the table header, and everything below it becomes the body. Uncheck it and the tool generates generic Column 1, Column 2 headers instead, which is handy for raw data dumps.
The Align setting controls the separator row: left (:---), center (:---:), or right (---:). Right alignment is the usual choice for tables of numbers, since it lines up the digits.
Where these tables work
The output is standard GitHub-Flavored Markdown, so it renders in GitHub and GitLab issues and READMEs, most static site generators, Obsidian, Notion imports, and Slack’s message formatting. Copy it, paste it, and the pipes turn into a real table.
