PDF Metadata Viewer & Editor

See the hidden metadata in a PDF (title, author, dates) and download a copy with it edited or cleared.

Runs 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

About PDF metadata

Every PDF carries a small block of metadata: a title, an author, a subject, keywords, and the name of the software that created it, plus the dates it was made and last changed. You rarely see these fields, but they travel with the file and show up in a document’s properties. This tool reads them so you can see what is there, lets you edit them, and can strip them out entirely. It all happens in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.

Why it matters

Metadata leaks more than people expect. The author field often holds a real name or a company account. The producer field reveals exactly which program and version made the file. And the title is sometimes an internal filename you never meant to share. Before you send a PDF to a client, publish it, or submit it somewhere official, it is worth a quick look.

Editing is just as useful in the other direction. Setting a proper title and author makes a document easier to find and looks more professional in a reader’s tab and file list.

View, edit, or clear

  • Edit any field and download a copy with your changes. Handy for setting a clean title and author on a finished document.
  • Clear all metadata and download a stripped copy, when privacy is the goal and you want the fields blank.

What this does and does not touch

Metadata is separate from the visible content. Editing or clearing it does not change a single word or image on the page; it only rewrites the hidden properties. It also does not remove other kinds of hidden data that can live inside a PDF, such as text you covered with a black box but did not truly delete. For that, you need to flatten or redact the content itself. For the document properties, this tool is the direct fix.
